The typical dishes from Caorle are based on fish, of course, that comes from the nearby lagoon and is prepared in different and tasty ways. The restaurants propose some new versions of the old fishers’ recipes, which are characterized by fish and white polenta (maize porridge).
The “Broéto caorlotto” (a fish soup) is very famous and appreciated and so are the “Sardèe in saòr” (fried sardines that are macerated with oil, onions, salt and vinegar) and the “Spèo de bisàto” (roasted eel).
Among the first courses we recommend you to taste: the spaghetti with clams, with shell-fishes, with sepia and the delicate “Risotto con gamberi e fiori di zucca” (risotto with crabs and courgette flowers).
Equally good and tasty are all kinds of grilled or fried fish: bass, squids and other fish dishes are extremely attractive and of a good quality.
