The province of Lucca is located in the North West of Tuscany, and is bordered to the West with the Tyrrhenian Sea and with the province of Massa-Carrara, to the North with Emilia Romagna, on the East with the province of Pistoia and on the South with the province of Pisa.
Lucca occupies a prime location within the Tuscany, becouse is only 20 km away from Versilia, the famous seaside coast, 20 km from Pisa, the City Tower, 70 km from Florence, and 70 km from the mountain of Abetone, where you can ski in winter.
To reach Lucca from Florence by car you can take the highway Firenze-mare A11. From Rome you can take the highway A1 until Florence and then the highway A11 until Lucca. From Milan, take the highway A1 in direction South until Fidenza, and then the highway A15 until La Spezia, the highway A12 until Viareggio, and finally the highway A11 until Lucca.
It is also possible to arrive by train, as the station of Lucca is connected with the main Tuscan cities. The nearest airport is the international airport of Pisa, but also that of Florence is not far away (60 km).
