Livorno is a flourishing town of the Tuscan province, known for its thriving port and its old maritime traditions.

It is situated three metres above the sea level and it overlooks the Tyrrhenian coast, South of the plain of the Arno.

Today Livorno is the second industrial and commercial centre in Tuscany, which has got one of the most important ports in the Tyrrhenian sea. Besides, it is the seat of the Naval Academy.

In Livorno you can appreciate the view of a wonderful coast, embellished by the colours of the hills that characterize it, but you can also come in touch with the original and picturesque old town centre, that is typical of this city.

LIVORNO: tourism and culture-Body

If you arrive in Livorno by car from Rome, Grosseto and Pisa, take the main road SS 1.

From Firenze, instead, you arrive from the motorway A 11, then you can either get onto the A 12, or take the main road SS 555.

For those who are coming from Genova, the reference is the motorway A 12.

If you are travelling by train the railway connections follow the route of the main roads.
Then from Livorno there are connections to Genova, Pisa, Firenze, Lucca, and Rome.

If you want to fly, the nearest airport is “G. Galilei” in Pisa.
