The most important event in this village is, certainly, the week of the Bravio delle Botti.
The Bravio delle Botti is a challenge among the eight districts of Montepulciano, who compete for a painted cloth, by rolling some barrels (that weigh 80 kilos each) uphill along a 1800 mt long route.
This is a challenge among the eight districts of Montepulciano, who compete for a painted cloth, by rolling some barrels (that weigh 80 kilos each) uphill along a 1800 mt long route.
The word Bravio derives from the word Bravium, that refers exactly to the painted cloth with the picture of the town’s patron, St Giovanni Decollato.
This evocative event, which occurs every year, has been happening for nearly six hundred years now.
