Travel and Culture in Sicily
The Easter week is full of religious events that culminate on Good Friday with the Misteries’ Procession in Trapani.
In summer, the feast of Saint Alberto, the patron of Trapani, falls on August 7th. August 15th is the day of the Holy Virgin of Trapani, while the last Wednesday of the month celebrates the Holy Virgin of Custonaci, the patroness of Erice.
During the winter season, Trapanis’s Tito Marrone theatre hosts both drama productions and concerts. Summer is the season of open-air performances. Segesta’s ancient theatre gives its wonderful frame to very interesting plays both from the Greek-Roman repertoire and by contemporary authors. Trapani’s Villa Margherita hosts among its centuries-old trees the live acts of Luglio Musicale Trapanese (dance, music, especially opera). Opera lovers must also be aware of the Giuseppe Di Stefano international contest "I Giovani e l'Opera" (at its 14th edition in 2007).
After hosting America’s Cup preparatory acts, Trapani is more than ever a site where major boat races are held, many of which between June and September.
