GASTRONOMY

The gastronomy and the local dishes of Cefalù, with their excellence and variety, are tightly bound up with Sicilian tradition.

You should taste the savoury "Arancine con la carne" (fried croquettes made of rice, lean meat of pork and veal, eggs and peas) and the "Frittedda" (a vegetable dish, with some sautè vegetables – artichokes, bread beans, peas –, oil and vinegar).

The "Sfincione" (a kind of bread dough stuffed with spicy salami, caciocavallo and onion),as well as the "Sarde Beccafico" (a delicious fish dish, with sardines cooked with breadcrumbs, raisins, pine nuts and parsley) is very distinctive and tasty.

Besides, there are typical sweets such as the "Cassata siciliana" and the "Cannoli siciliani" (both of them made of ricotta and candied fruit), the "Amaretti" (sweets with bitter almonds, eggs and sugar) and the "Torrone" (with almonds, honey and eggs).

Ice-creams and crushed-ice drinks, coffee and fruit flavoured, are also delicious such as palatable local wines, that keep the old scents of Sicilian tradition.
