The Carnival in Cagliari is very lively, with its parade called Sa Ratantina, that takes place in the streets of the town
Cagliari offers a series of interesting events all year round. In particular, the Carnival in Cagliari is very lively, with its parade called Sa Ratantina, that takes place in the streets of the town. The most famous masks from Cagliari are: the cat (su gattu), the fisher (su piscadori), the fool (su maccu) and the baker-woman (sa panettera).
Another important event is the International Sample Fair, which is held in April and May every year. Then you can participate in the old St Efisio’s Festival, that has been performed in town since 1656, in May, and that is characterized by a parade and by three days of feast.
Then the Sardinian Region has created another festival on 28th April, that is Sa Die de sa Sardigna (The Sardinia Day), which can be compared to 25th April, since it recalls the expulsion of the Piedmontese foreigners bound to the Savoy Court.
