Cagliari is really rich in monuments and history. You absolutely must visit the Quartiere Castello, with its typical medieval lanes, in the same style of the white limestone Towers that emerge from the old town centre. The Civic Palace is very interesting too, in Art Nouveau style, that contains the frescoes of the Wedding Hall, made by Filippo Figari, one of the most famous Sardinian artists of the 20th century.
Then you can admire the beautiful St Sepolcro and St Michael churches, in Baroque style, and the St Saturno basilica, in Oriental style.
We recommend you to visit the Citadel of Museums, which is the seat of the most important museums in Cagliari, built in the area of the old Royal Arsenal, that includes: the Picture Gallery, the National Archeological Museum, the “S. Cardu” Siamese Art Museum and the Anatomic Waxworks Gallery.
Finally we advice you to see, especially in the evening while drinking a good aperitif, the St Croce Bastion, from where you can admire the Gulf of Cagliari and the nearby Elephant Tower.
