Travel and Culture in Sardinia
The historical town centre of Alghero is a precious centre that has preserved its architectural and urban features and where the Catalan style of monuments and palaces is still today clear.
We advise you to walk calmly along it and to enter the streets that will lead you to discover some picturesque corners.
There are several interesting palaces as the "Palazzo del Veguer", "Palazzo Peretti" of the 18th century and a rare example of Gothic urban architecture of the 16th century as "Palazzo de Ferrera".
We recommend you to visit the Cathedral dedicated to St Mary (Duomo)and St Francis estate, formed by the church, the monastery and the cloister, a very nice group in Gothic and Renaissance style.
Moreover it is still possible to admire the ruins of the Medieval walls, with their stately towers as the "Esperó Reial Tower",built in 1364.
