Travel and Culture in Liguria
Sanremo is one of the best-known international touristic centres and it is a world-famous destination. Ever since the Sixties, the international jet set has been crowding its streets.
Sanremo offers enchanting gardens and parks, which are particularly embellished by a charming series of tropical plants. These features and a particularly mild climate have made this town become the capital of flower-growing.
If you want to reach Sanremo by plane, an important reference for you is Cristoforo Colombo airport in Genoa, but you can possibly arrive at Nizza airport, which is 50 Km from Sanremo and is linked to the principal European towns.
Otherwise, if you want to reach Sanremo by sea, the most convenient berth is Porto Sole, where even big boats can dock (from 5 to 90 mt), while the smaller boats and the fishing boats can dock in Porto Vecchio.
If you prefer travelling by car, you can take the A10 Genoa-Ventimiglia motorway and leave it at the tollgates of east and west Sanremo. If you wish to enjoy the landscape offered by the coast, you can drive along Aurelia Road, an ancient Roman road that passes through all the towns of the coast.
From France you can reach Ventimiglia, driving along the Côte d’Azur motorway and then you can reach Sanremo getting onto the A10.
You can have a comfortable journey even by train. In fact, you can either leave from Genoa and go on as far as Nice, or you can travel on the distances from Torino-Savona and Torino-Cuneo-Ventimiglia.
