Travel and Culture in Liguria
Genoa is rich in activities and events, which are interesting both from the cultural and the folklore points of view.
We would like to remind you the Genoa Carnival, that evokes the ‘Cinquecento Carnival’, with masked balls and jugglers.
The “Regatta and historical parade of the ancient Maritime Republics” takes place every year, between 19th and 22nd June: it is a challenge among Amalfi, Venice, Pisa and Genoa in a 2000 mt linear route by boats built in ancient style and with people wearing old-fashioned costumes.
(The regatta takes place by turns in the different towns).
Then the “Sea Feast” takes place in July: a festival with gastronomic specialities, sport races and various entertainments.
Moreover, 2004 is a special year for the town of Genoa, since it has been officially chosen as the European Capital of Culture. That is why Genoa offers to its visitors a 2004 even richer in interesting events and in peculiar activities than usually.
