The gastronomy from Rimini is famous for the preparation of extremely savoury dishes, based on fish, which are served with very good brodetto and marinara sauces. Among the first courses, which are present anyway, the home-made pasta plays a fundamental role in the preparation of the cappelletti al formaggio (a kind of ravioli stuffed with cheese) and of the tagliatelle al ragù (meat sauce). Besides fish, among the main courses, we want to mention the delicious piccione farcito (stuffed pigeon) and all the various roasts, accompanied by a good Sangiovese or by a cool Trebbiano. Finally the sweets, which are mostly constituted by ciambelle (doughnuts), frittelle (fritters) and the typical castagnole (another kind of little fritters).
