ART

The artistic part of the town is, in fact, in San Piero di Romagna where, in the 18th century, the first bourgeoisie palaces rose, as Palazzo Bucci and Palazzo Giommoni.

The centres Bagno di Romagna and San Piero in Bagno are situated along the river Savio and the municipal seat is precisely in san Piero in Bagno, while the name of the town is given by Bagno di Romagna. The artistic part of the town is, in fact, in San Piero di Romagna where, in the 18th century, the first bourgeoisie palaces rose, as Palazzo Bucci and Palazzo Giommoni.

Otherwise, Palazzo Rivalta Paganelli dates back to 1905 and expresses the Neoromantic and Neogothic tastes together, present in the whole San Piero village. In fact, this style was planned by Architect Spighi, who realized the urban development plans in 1905. He also planned the capitals of the Parish Priest's Church, which contains a painting on wood portraying a “Madonna con Bambino e Santi”. In Borgo di Romagna you can see a painting which is similar to this one, the famous altar-piece Neri di Bicci, preserved in Santa Maria Assunta Basilica.

This church, which was founded in 860, is a real picture gallery: it contains works by Alessandro Gherardini (1655-1726), by Ghirlandaio (1449-1494), by Neri di Bicci (1418-1492), by Maestro di St Ivo (15th century), by Jacopo Vignali and Michele Tosini.

We recommend you to see the Madonna di Corzano Sanctuary too, built in the same place where the castle destroyed by the Lansquenets was and that had been realized in different periods, through consecutive enlargements.
