Travel and Culture in Campania
The most important work of art in Cilento is certainly nature, twhich we think is to be known and seen because of its beauty and richness.
Anyhow Pisciotta, besides this inestimable natural value, was born in a place with many meaningful traces of the ancient civilizations.
We advise you to visit the Marquess Pappacoda Palace, built on the ruins of a 12th century castle, which can be seen in a part of the old fortress, today used as houses.
Another beautiful building isFrancia Palace, built in 1600, with its portal in sandtones and Lancelotti Palace (1700), that belonged to Bishop Lancelotti.
The Holy Apostles Peter and Paul’s Church is beautiful, too. It was begun in the 16th century and it contains numerous precious works of art, as the image of the Madonna delle Grazie and the statues of the apostles Peter and Paul, which date back to the first half of 1700.
Please, do not forget Pestum in your excursions, an archeological site, the 4th century most important Greek centre, that is situated to the South of Naples, at a short distance from Pisciotta.
