In the seaside resorts you can taste some dishes based on fish, while in the inland places you can find some dishes based on cultivated mushrooms and very good salami.

Everything is seasoned with a lot of paprika, of course, which is the emblem of Calabria, since it is appreciated as a natural preservative, a disinfectant and, as they say, an aphrodisiac too… Among the first courses you can taste the fileja, a home made pasta, served with various meat sauces and the legane ai ceci, another kind of pasta served with chickpeas.

Among the other dishes, you can find the typical, irreplaceable n’duja, which is made with pork meat and bacon fat mixed with a big quantity of paprika and transformed into a soft compound that you can spread.

Moreover, in Pizzo, they produce a good wine and a very good ice-cream, which is called tartufo. Finally, you can find also many restaurants that offer some sea specialities, as the spaghetti al nero di seppia (spaghetti served with sepia.
