Learn Italian while doing Venice the Venetian way!
Interested in learning Italian? Planning a trip to Venice? Not keen on crowds of students and overpriced tours?
Maybe this is more your style: a week learning Italian in a Venetian home, personalised tours of the places you want to see when you want to see them, and firsthand experience of the culture, cooking, music and lifestyle of the city. This is a unique chance to study Italian while experiencing Venice the Venetian way and enjoy the island like a local!
Brother and sister Diego and Lucia Cattaneo – qualified Italian teachers with over ten years experience teaching corporate and private clients in London – have recently launched their Venice Italian School www.veniceitalianschool.com. They are offering professional yet informal, comfortable lessons in the Studio of their home in Venice for individuals and small groups.
What can you expect from a typical day? Breakfast at the Cattaneos' home, followed by three hours lesson in a cool, comfortable room with adjacent garden; then off to lunch, immediately putting into practise what you have learned.
In the afternoon, you can select a tour – cultural, culinary, the sights or any other – and Diego or Lucia will take you there, off the beaten path to avoid the crowds of course! Or, you can let them choose: their house is two minutes walk from the ancient Frari church and the Scuola di San Rocco, which features many of Tintoretto’s masterpieces. It is also a ten minute walk from the Rialto Bridge and its lively food market. Walking tours around the city, in Italian, with such in-depth, home grown, local knowledge is hard to come by, making this Italian language course so much more valuable.
Then, in the evening, relax at your own leisure or enjoy apertivo with Diego, Lucia and their close friends and dine at the best local restaurants – and remember, local means non-tourist prices! You will be absorbed into the Venetian lifestyle with ample opportunities to practice the Italian language, continuing the learning process in a practical way with Diego and Lucia.
By the end of the week, you’ll have greatly improved your Italian and you will have got more from Venice than you ever expected: a home away from home and the language skills to express it.
